Research at the crossroad of state-of-the-art laboratory and clinic

The project
VUmc is one of the leading medical centres in the Netherlands in which fundamental-translational research is intertwined with clinical expertise and health care. Within the preclinical department of Molecular Cell Biology and Immunology, which employs 120 people including researchers, lecturers and full and part-time professors, we perform research in Immunology/Cell biology within field of Oncology, Gastroenterology and Neurology. The department is responsible for innovative, cutting-edge fundamental and translational research. MCBI provides a scientific environment, where high-end flow-cytometry and microscopy core facilities are present, allowing the performance of state-of-the-art research. The department is unique in the Netherlands as it harbours also a Biochemistry Core facility equipped with cutting-edge instrumentation for analytical glycochemistry and peptide synthesis. The department provides teaching programs in the field of Biochemistry, Histology, Cell Biology and Immunology for the faculty of life sciences and medicine.
